Shalom Psychiatry at Palmetto Counseling Associates
Welcome to Shalom Psychiatry at Palmetto Counseling Associates! We look forward to the opportunity of working with you – to hearing your unique story – to walking with you through times that are challenging or even painful.
You see, we all – every one of us! – have found ourselves in circumstances that we couldn’t fix, in places from which we couldn’t extract ourselves. We all have experienced loneliness, rejection, inadequacy, shame or guilt, rage, and confusion. We all bear the wounds inflicted by others, and we all have regrets for the ways we have hurt others. In short, we have all felt crushed, broken – that things are not the way they are supposed to be, and that no matter how hard we try, we can’t put them right.
While the themes of human suffering are universal, your experience is yours alone. The details of your personal history are not shared by anyone else on the planet. Your physical makeup, your brain, your family, your beliefs, your thoughts and emotions, your desires, the attributes of your current situation are all particular to you. We would be honored and humbled to be brought into your human story, regardless of who you are, what has happened to you, what you have done, or what you believe.
We view our job description as helping people find ways through tough and unyielding places. We want to come to where you are, to think broadly and deeply about the impediments keeping you stuck, and work alongside you toward freedom and restoration and strength in your inner life. We seek to consider and address the specific constellation of factors that are hindering you: biological, psychological, behavioral, social, existential, and spiritual. For only through wellness in your hidden, inner life can you properly function in your outward life – in your work and in your relationships. Our most fundamental goal, toward which we are continuously striving, is for you to experience life ‘the way it is supposed to be’ – shalom.
If you are struggling – and maybe have been for quite some time – please: let go of your efforts to fix things on your own. Click the link below or call us – “There’s freedom in surrender.”*
